Details!

  • We are planning a second service project to Western NC.
  • Dates: March 20-22, 2025
  • While the details are still coming together, there are two great ways you can support this project:
    • Attend the service project weekend; contact us HERE if you are interested and able.
    • Donate.  100% of the money raised will go to help with the clean up effort in North Carolina.  Click HERE to make a contribution.  Contact us if you prefer to mail a check.

Details below are for the first Aid to NC Project NAFCA undertook in October 2024.  We have $4k in remaining funds and are looking toward another project in early 2025.  Stay tuned to see how you can be part of this project.

NAFCA is actively raising funds to support communities in North Carolina impacted by recent flooding. In addition to financial contributions, NAFCA will be sending volunteers to assist with recovery efforts from October 25 through 27. 100% of the funds raised will go directly toward providing immediate relief, long-term recovery, and supporting the volunteers on the ground. If you are able make a donation or sign up to volunteer. Let’s come together to support those in need.

Details are still coming together, but here is what we know so far:

  • The Arlington Nation Cemetary Project will be postponed until November 22nd.
  • The weekend of October 25-27, 2024 the NAFCA Board is organizing boots on the ground to help with the clean up efforts
  • How can you help?

UPDATES:

10/16/24:

We will be heading to Mill Spring, NC.

Lodging/Accommodations will be here. They are provided by the North Carolina Cattlemen’s Association; we are extremely appreciative of their support/assistance with this project.  Lodging is provided free of charge.

Work details are still developing.  Current material/donation needs are:

  • Generators
  • Blankets
  • Clothing

10/21/24:

Project work orders received!  From Nancie Brengle (NAFCA Board Member):

“I spoke with Jeff  (the livestock agent) this morning and we have our official orders. We will have our home base at the Lodge Clint mentioned but our work will take place a little north of that in a town called Rutherfordton.  We will be working on the farms of (2) 80 year old widows. Their pastures took on a lot of damage from fallen trees, so most of our work in both locations will be chainsawing trees off the fencing and repairing those sections.   There isn’t a need for a post driver however if any of you who might be coming may have a large excavator, that would be helpful.  He said some of these fallen trees are huge.  At the moment the greatest need is for chainsaws, bar oil , gloves and mixed gas as they are still doing quite a bit of cleaning.”

Let us know if you can join in person; there is still space.

NAFCA and NC: Service Project Update:
A huge thank you to all who helped make a difference in North Carolina. We worked together to clear fallen trees, repair fences, and replace sections that were completely washed out on three different farms. This project showed the power of community and teamwork in times of need.

In addition to the work completed above, through the generous support of our members and the fence industry as a whole, we raised nearly $14,000 to send help to clean up from Hurricane Helene.
A portion of that money was spent purchasing generators, pressure washers, shop vacs, kerosene heaters, propane heaters, propane cook stoves as well as the fuel to run them. We also had many people send blankets and clothing which we were able to take to a distribution center.
Fifteen people, seven companies, five states. Countless others all came together with the support of the entire fence industry to give back to Western North Carolina.
To everyone who volunteered, donated supplies, or supported us along the way – we couldn’t have done it without you.

Funding Update: approximately $4k remains of the initial $14k funds raised for this project.  We are planning a future project in early 2025.  We greatly appreciate everyone’s support of this project.
